2027 Ford Explorer

Five trims give Explorer distinctly different characters. Active establishes the range with the 300-hp 2.3L EcoBoost® engine, heated front seats, Adaptive Cruise Control, a 10-way power driver's seat, and power liftgate. ST-Line adds a sportier presentation without requiring the ST powertrain. Its 20-inch Ebony Black-painted machined aluminum wheels, blackout lighting treatments, red-stitched seating, 360-degree camera, and 10-speaker B&O® audio system create a noticeably richer specification. Tremor® is engineered for drivers whose Kentucky travels don't always remain on pavement. Standard Intelligent 4WD joins a Torsen® limited-slip rear axle, increased ride height, off-road-tuned suspension, underbody protection, all-terrain tires, and selectable Off-Road mode. The 3.0L EcoBoost V6 is available for additional muscle. Platinum™ shifts the emphasis toward luxury with heated second-row seats, ambient lighting, a 14-speaker 980W B&O system, and available premium leather. Available multicontour front seats add Active Motion® massage, while the 3.0L V6 is newly available for 2027. ST remains the performance flagship, combining the V6 with sport-tuned suspension, performance brakes with red-painted calipers, 21-inch wheels, quad exhaust outlets, and heated and ventilated front seats.

The 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 produces 300 hp and 310 lbs. ft. of torque and is standard on Active, ST-Line, Tremor, and Platinum. The Twin-Turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6 generates up to 400 hp and 415 lbs. ft. of torque. It is standard on ST and available for Tremor and Platinum.

Every 2027 Explorer can tow up to 5,000 lbs. thanks to a standard Class III Trailer Tow Package with a hitch receiver, seven-wire harness, and four- and seven-pin connectors. Six selectable drive modes adapt responses to changing conditions, while Trailer Sway Control and Side-Wind Stabilization support greater confidence when hauling. Tremor adds genuine off-road hardware; ST takes the opposite approach with chassis tuning focused on more energetic road performance.

Explorer offers three-row seating for 6 with standard second-row captain's chairs, while an available bench increases capacity to 7 on every trim except Tremor. Active and ST-Line provide 150.3 cu. ft. of passenger volume and up to 85.8 cu. ft. of maximum cargo capacity. Tremor, Platinum, and ST offer up to 85.3 cu. ft., while every model retains 16.3 cu. ft. behind the third row. Front-row legroom reaches 43 inches in Active and ST-Line, with 37.5 inches in the second row and 31.8 inches in the third. Higher trims layer in Miko® suede, leather, ambient lighting, massaging seats, and PowerFold® third-row seating.

A 13.2-inch center display anchors Ford Digital Experience, joined by wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility and a 5G modem. Available connectivity includes built-in Wi-Fi® for up to 10 devices, Google Maps™, streaming services, and Google Assistant™. For towing, the standard Class III equipment integrates with Trailer Sway Control to make Explorer equally prepared for connected family travel and trailer duty.

Ford Co-Pilot360® driver-assist technology is standard across the lineup and includes Adaptive Cruise Control. ST-Line, Tremor, Platinum, and ST add a 360-degree camera. Available Ford BlueCruise supports hands-free highway driving, while the Ford Security Package adds theft alerts, Start Inhibit, and stolen-vehicle assistance.
