2027 Ford F-150: What’s New for America’s Favorite Truck?

The Ford F-150 enters the 2027 model year with an updated engine lineup, new exterior colors and several changes across its available trims and packages. The 2027 model year is not a complete redesign. Instead, Ford has refined the current F-150 by expanding certain configurations, simplifying others and giving buyers a few new ways to personalize their truck. Here’s what shoppers can expect from the 2027 Ford F-150. The 3.0-Liter EcoBoost Joins the Lineup The biggest mechanical change for 2027 is the introduction of the 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost engine to the F-150 lineup. This engine takes the place of the outgoing 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost, which has been removed. Ford had not released final horsepower, torque or fuel-economy figures when the initial order guide was published, so complete performance specifications are still to come. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost will be available across several popular F-150 trims, including XL, STX, XLT and Lariat. Depending on the configuration, it may be standard or available as an option. The remainder of the engine lineup continues to include the available 5.0-liter V8, 3.5-liter EcoBoost, 3.5-liter PowerBoost Full Hybrid and the high-output engines offered in the F-150 Raptor family. The 5.0-Liter V8 Expands to King Ranch and Platinum For drivers who still want traditional V8 power, Ford is expanding availability of the 5.0-liter V8 for 2027. The engine will now be available on King Ranch and Platinum models, giving luxury-truck buyers another option beyond the EcoBoost and PowerBoost powertrains. That means shoppers will be able to combine the sound and character of Ford’s V8 with the premium materials, technology and comfort found inside two of the F-150’s highest trims. Three New Exterior Colors Ford is refreshing the F-150’s color palette with three new paint choices: Birch Sand Neptune Blue Wild Green Availability will vary by trim and appearance package. Wild Green, for example, appears across several configurations but is not listed for King Ranch, Platinum or Raptor models in the initial order guide. To make room for the new colors, Ford is phasing out three previous options: Antimatter Blue Metallic Argon Blue Avalanche Updated Styling for the XLT 302A The popular F-150 XLT 302A equipment group receives a subtle styling upgrade for 2027. Body-color front and rear bumpers are now standard on the XLT 302A, creating a cleaner and more unified exterior appearance. Ford is also introducing a new dealer-installed 22-inch ebony-painted six-spoke aluminum wheel for buyers looking to give their truck a more customized stance. More Off-Road Flexibility Ford is making a few notable changes for buyers interested in off-road performance. The FX4 Off-Road Package is now available on the STX 200A, bringing equipment such as an electronic-locking rear axle, Hill Descent Control and off-road-tuned components to another F-150 configuration. The Tremor will also offer an available front axle with a Torsen differential. This provides Tremor buyers with another way to improve traction and capability when driving across loose or uneven terrain. A New Lariat Chrome Appearance Package A new Lariat Chrome Appearance Package will be available on Lariat 500A and 501A models. It gives shoppers an alternative to the darker, blacked-out appearance packages that have become increasingly common across the truck market. Meanwhile, the previous STX Black Appearance Package has been removed. Black appearance options remain available elsewhere in the lineup, including on XLT and Lariat models. A More Affordable F-150 Tremor One of the most exciting additions for 2027 is a new entry-level Tremor configuration. The new Tremor 400A equipment group gives buyers access to the truck’s core off-road capability without requiring as many premium comfort and technology features. It comes exclusively as a SuperCrew 4x4 with a 5.5-foot bed and is powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Despite its more accessible position in the lineup, the Tremor 400A retains the equipment that defines the off-road-focused truck, including: A 3.73 electronic-locking rear axle Off-road-tuned front and rear shocks Increased ride height Improved approach and departure angles 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires Skid plates Rock Crawl, Mud/Rut and Deep Snow/Sand drive modes Tremor-specific exterior styling Unique cloth seating with Active Orange stitching Pro Power Onboard 400-watt outlets Higher Tremor equipment groups add features such as power-adjustable seating, heated seats, upgraded audio, additional towing technology and leather-trimmed seating. Ford had not announced final 2027 pricing when the initial order guide was published. However, the addition of the 400A equipment group should create a more affordable entry point for drivers who want genuine Tremor capability without all the premium upgrades. Ford Security Package Options Every 2027 F-150 includes one year of the Ford Security Package, which can provide connected features such as theft alerts, start inhibition and vehicle-location assistance. Modem activation is required. Buyers will also have the option to purchase seven years of coverage through a one-time payment. Exact features may change over time as Ford updates its connected services. Is the 2027 Ford F-150 Worth Waiting For? The 2027 Ford F-150 does not dramatically reinvent Ford’s full-size pickup, but its targeted updates give shoppers more choices in several important areas. The new 3.0-liter EcoBoost represents the most significant change, while expanded V8 availability makes the King Ranch and Platinum more appealing to traditional truck enthusiasts. New colors, revised appearance packages and additional off-road options round out an update focused on variety and customization. Final pricing, engine output and fuel-economy information had not been announced in the initial order guide. Features, packages and availability may also change before production begins. At Hunt Ford, we’ve proudly been Kentucky’s #1 F-Series dealer for two consecutive years. As the 2027 Ford F-150 gets ready to arrive, our team is here to help you explore the latest updates and find the truck that fits your needs. Ford Expedition Celebrates Three Decades of Adventure

For 30 years, the Ford Expedition has helped families travel farther, haul more and create unforgettable memories along the way. Introduced for the 1997 model year, the Expedition combined the strength of an F-150-based platform with the passenger space and comfort families wanted from a full-size SUV. Nearly three million Expeditions later, Ford is celebrating that legacy with a special offering for 2027. The new Ford Expedition 30th Anniversary Appearance Package honors the SUV’s history with exclusive badging, premium exterior details and a head-turning paint color borrowed from one of Ford’s most exciting performance vehicles. Mustang Dark Horse Color Meets the Ford Expedition The centerpiece of the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package is the available Blue Ember Metallic paint. Originally offered on the high-performance Ford Mustang Dark Horse, Blue Ember is a deep, color-shifting finish that gives the Expedition an unmistakably premium appearance. Depending on the lighting, the paint can transition between rich shades of blue and darker tones such as bronze and purple. For 2027, the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package is the only Expedition Platinum available with Blue Ember Metallic paint. Its dramatic finish looks right at home across the Expedition’s larger body. It highlights the SUV’s bold design while providing the exclusivity expected from an anniversary model. Exclusive 30th Anniversary Styling Available exclusively on 2027 Ford Expedition Platinum models, the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package adds several dark exterior details that contrast with the Blue Ember finish. Package features include: 22-inch bright-machined aluminum wheels painted in high-gloss Ebony Exclusive anniversary wheel center caps Black beltline molding Ebony-painted grille Carbon Black front bumper and fascia Black roof-rack side rails Darkened headlamp bezels with Ebony trim Black “EXPEDITION” lettering on the split tailgate Exclusive “30 Years” tailgate badging It is a subtle celebration rather than a complete redesign, preserving the Expedition’s recognizable styling while making the anniversary package easy to distinguish from the rest of the lineup. Anniversary Details Continue Inside Ford carried the anniversary theme into the Expedition Platinum’s cabin with several exclusive details. The lighter Salt Crystal Gray interior provides a striking contrast to the dark exterior. Special “30 Years” branding appears on the door-sill plates, while the Expedition’s available sliding center console features a unique anniversary design embossed into its leather. Additional package details include tray-style floor liners for the first and second rows. These touches recognize the Expedition’s history without taking away from the comfort, flexibility and technology that define the current model. Three Decades of the Ford Expedition When the first Expedition arrived, it helped define what a modern full-size family SUV could be. Its truck-based capability, available V8 power and spacious cabin offered an alternative to the minivans and station wagons commonly found in family driveways. The Expedition continued to evolve over the following generations. An independent rear suspension improved passenger comfort and interior space, while features such as Ford SYNC® brought new levels of connectivity to family travel. Through changing designs and new technology, the Expedition has maintained its core purpose: providing families with the space, capability and confidence needed for their biggest adventures. From daily school runs to cross-country road trips, the Expedition has become part of millions of family stories. The 30th Anniversary Appearance Package celebrates those memories while introducing a distinctive new look for the next chapter. Everything you need to know about: Towing with a 2026 Ford

There’s a moment that hits a lot of first-time towers the same way: you’re standing in a dealership or scrolling through listings, thinking you’ve found the perfect truck for all your towing needs—until someone asks, “but what are you towing?” That’s where towing can seem easy, but difficult if the user isn’t fully equipped. Towing isn’t about having a big truck; It’s about understanding the weight, balance and how everything works within itself. New to the 2026 Ford Truck Lineup includes an advanced, torque powertrain lineup, which delivers impressive payload and trailer tow ratings, across all models. Ford's towing guide lays it all out in detail but here at Hunt Ford in Franklin, KY—we’ve made it easy for you and our customers. First Trailer, Then Truck Start by asking yourself: How much does your trailer weigh fully loaded? What will you be hauling? Where and how you will be driving, Flat land or higher terrain? Before heading out on a trip, check your Ford Owner’s Manual for brakes and in severe duty maintenance schedules. Ford recommends that you don’t tow anything until you’ve reached 1,000 miles on the odometer. Check your state's law/requirements for braking systems on trailers. Many states require a separate braking system on trailers with a loaded weight of more than 1,500 pounds. Ford also recommends that a separate functional brake system be used on any towed vehicle, including those dolly-towed or tobar-towed. The basic types of brake systems designed to activate trailer breaks are Electronically Controlled Brakes, Electric-Over Hydraulic Trailer Brakes or Surge Breaks. Know What Trailer you Need Trailers come in different sizes and shapes. Falling into a few general categories, each one changes what kind of vehicle you need. Light-duty trailers (under 2,000 Ibs) - Small campers, small boats, motorcycles, etc. Mid-range trailers (2,001- 3,500 Ibs) - Single-axle campers or small travel trailers Heavy-duty trailers (3,501 - 5,000 Ibs) - Larger campers, dual-axle trailers Extra-Heavy Duty (over 5,000 Ibs) - Mounted in the truck bed for better stability and weight distribution. The bigger and heavier the trailer is, the more important your setup becomes—not just your engine, but the hitch, brakes and weight balance. The Numbers That Actually Matter This process is where it can get tricky. However, these numbers are the difference between safe towing and damaging your truck. GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating): The maximum your truck itself can weigh, including passengers and cargo. GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating): The maximum weight of your truck PLUS your trailer combined. Tongue Weight: The downward force the trailer puts on your hitch. Typically is less than 10% of the trailer weight. What Truck Best Suits Your Towing Needs? Our biggest suggestion is to not underestimate or overestimate, but most importantly, don’t overspend. F-150: Everyday towing like boats, small campers and utility trailers. You can tow from 8,200 - 13,500 Ibs, depending on engine with the 3.5L EcoBoost H. O. V6 being the lowest and the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 being the highest engine level. Super Duty’s: Built for serious loads—large RVs, equipment and heavy trailers. Four available engine choices are engineered to provide outstanding performance so you can take on whatever the tow throws on you. With max towing starting at 18,900 Ibs in the 6.8L Gas V8 engine, to the 6.7L High Output Power Stroke Diesel engine at 40,000 Ibs. The Bottom Line Towing isn’t about pushing your truck to its limits—but it's about understanding the right setup. It all comes down to knowing your trailer weight, choosing a vehicle that can handle your tow comfortably (but most importantly, if you can handle the vehicle comfortably) and setting everything up correctly before you hit the road. Here at Hunt Ford, we want it to be less about second-guessing and more about feeling confident on your adventure. Still not sure which Ford truck is right for your towing needs? Let the experts at Hunt Ford help. As the #1 F-Series volume dealership in the state of Kentucky for two consecutive years, we've helped thousands of drivers find the perfect truck for work, recreation and everything in between. Visit us in Franklin, KY, browse our inventory online or contact our team today to find a Ford that's built to handle whatever you're towing.

The Ford F-150: the most capable Half-Ton Truck?

The Most Capable Half-Ton Truck: Decoding the Ford F-150's Power and Features 2024 Ford F-150 preproduction model shown. Available early 2024. Actual production vehicle may vary. When it comes to pickup trucks, the term "half-ton" gets thrown around a lot. But what does it really mean, and which truck truly earns the title of "most capable" in this competitive segment? While the term itself has historical roots, referring to the approximate payload of early light-duty trucks, the modern Ford F-150 redefines what's possible. It's not just about a number; it's about a combination of power, towing, payload, technology, and overall performance that makes the F-150 a clear leader. And if you're in the Franklin, Kentucky area, or just across the state line in Tennessee, your trusted Ford dealer since 1952 is Hunt Ford! Situated conveniently right on the Kentucky/Tennessee state line and near both Bowling Green, KY, and Nashville, TN, Hunt Ford has proudly served this region for generations. In fact, we're the number one Ford F-Series dealer in the entire state of Kentucky, a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional service and the best selection of Ford trucks. Beyond the "Half-Ton": Understanding Modern Capability Let's ditch the outdated "half-ton" label for a moment. Today's Ford F-150 is a far cry from its predecessors. It's a powerhouse engineered for demanding tasks, offering a range of engine options to suit diverse needs. From the proven EcoBoost turbocharged engines to the robust V8 and the innovative PowerBoost hybrid, the F-150 delivers the muscle you need, where you need it. And at Hunt Ford, we have a wide variety of these powerful F-150 models ready for you to explore. Towing Prowess: Pulling Power Redefined 2024 Ford F-150 preproduction model shown. Available early 2024. Actual production vehicle may vary. Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. See Owner's Manual for details and limitations. If you're looking for a truck that can tow with confidence, the F-150 is a top contender. When properly equipped with the available Max Trailer Tow Package and a weight distribution hitch, certain configurations can achieve impressive towing capacities, sometimes exceeding 13,000 or even 14,000 pounds! This means you can haul campers, boats, trailers, and more with ease. It's crucial to understand that the maximum towing capacity depends on the specific configuration (cab type, bed length, engine, etc.), so always consult the F-150's official towing guide. The experts at Hunt Ford in Franklin, KY, can help you find the perfect F-150 configuration to meet your specific towing needs. Payload Capacity: Hauling with Confidence 2024 Ford F-150 preproduction model with Ford accessories shown. Available early 2024. Actual production vehicle may vary. Pro Access Tailgate available Spring 2024. The F-150 isn't just about towing; it's also built to carry a significant load in its bed and cabin. Depending on the configuration, you can expect payload capacities ranging from around 1,200 pounds to over 2,400 pounds. This means you can confidently haul construction materials, landscaping supplies, or gear for your weekend adventures. Plus, features like the available Pro Power Onboard generator turn your truck bed into a mobile power source, adding another layer of capability you'll find incredibly useful whether you're working on a job site near Bowling Green or enjoying a weekend getaway south of the state line. And the team at Hunt Ford can walk you through all the available features. Fuel Efficiency: Power and Economy? Yes, it's Possible. Many truck buyers worry about fuel economy, and rightfully so. However, the Ford F-150 offers a compelling blend of power and efficiency. 5 Signs You Need a Brake Repair From Your Ford Dealer

The brakes are often one of the first components in your car to need replacing or repairing. They're your number one piece of safety gear, so head to your Ford dealer for a brake repair as soon as you notice one of the signs below. 1. It's Taking Longer to Stop Once you've been driving for a while, you get a feel for how long it takes your car to stop when you hit the brakes. If you notice it's taking longer than usual, then it's time to head to the dealer to get your brakes checked. Even a couple of seconds longer between the time you put your foot down and the time your car stops can cause problems. more 2. It's Getting Noisy If your brakes squeak and squeal, then it's time to get them looked at. It's usually a minor issue, such as worn-down brake pads. You should always listen out for squeaking or squealing noises coming from your vehicle at least once on every journey, as this will help you catch problems early. 3. It's Showing on Your Dash Sometimes brake problems will show up on your dash as the brake pad indicator light will illuminate. This light doesn't always mean your brake pads need replacing. There could be a more serious issue at play, so you should get your brakes checked out fully by a factory-trained Ford technician as soon as you can. 4. It's Spongy When You Use the Brakes Your brake pedal should always feel firm and have some resistance to it. If it feels spongy when you press down on it, then you need to get your brake system checked out. There may be moisture or air somewhere in the system, or perhaps you have problems with your master cylinder. You should consider these problems emergencies, as they could interfere with your ability to brake. That puts everyone on the road in danger. 5. It Smells like Burning When You Brake Always be on the lookout for burning aromas while driving. Sometimes a burning smell can indicate your engine is too hot, and sometimes it means your brake system is overheating. If the smell occurs once you use the brakes, then it's likely the brake system that's the issue. Pull over, shut your car off completely, and let it cool down for 30 to 40 minutes. Once this time has elapsed, you can safely drive to your nearest dealer for a brake checkup. Come to Hunt Ford so one of our Ford technicians can fix up your brakes ASAP. We'll answer any questions you have about brake and overall car maintenance, too.
