2027 Ford F-150: What’s New for America’s Favorite Truck?

The Ford F-150 enters the 2027 model year with an updated engine lineup, new exterior colors and several changes across its available trims and packages.

The 2027 model year is not a complete redesign. Instead, Ford has refined the current F-150 by expanding certain configurations, simplifying others and giving buyers a few new ways to personalize their truck.

Here’s what shoppers can expect from the 2027 Ford F-150.

The 3.0-Liter EcoBoost Joins the Lineup

The biggest mechanical change for 2027 is the introduction of the 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost engine to the F-150 lineup. 

This engine takes the place of the outgoing 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost, which has been removed. Ford had not released final horsepower, torque or fuel-economy figures when the initial order guide was published, so complete performance specifications are still to come.

The 3.0-liter EcoBoost will be available across several popular F-150 trims, including XL, STX, XLT and Lariat. Depending on the configuration, it may be standard or available as an option.

The remainder of the engine lineup continues to include the available 5.0-liter V8, 3.5-liter EcoBoost, 3.5-liter PowerBoost Full Hybrid and the high-output engines offered in the F-150 Raptor family.

The 5.0-Liter V8 Expands to King Ranch and Platinum

For drivers who still want traditional V8 power, Ford is expanding availability of the 5.0-liter V8 for 2027.

The engine will now be available on King Ranch and Platinum models, giving luxury-truck buyers another option beyond the EcoBoost and PowerBoost powertrains.

That means shoppers will be able to combine the sound and character of Ford’s V8 with the premium materials, technology and comfort found inside two of the F-150’s highest trims.

Three New Exterior Colors

Ford is refreshing the F-150’s color palette with three new paint choices:

• Birch Sand
• Neptune Blue
• Wild Green

Availability will vary by trim and appearance package. Wild Green, for example, appears across several configurations but is not listed for King Ranch, Platinum or Raptor models in the initial order guide.

To make room for the new colors, Ford is phasing out three previous options:

• Antimatter Blue Metallic
• Argon Blue
• Avalanche

Updated Styling for the XLT 302A

The popular F-150 XLT 302A equipment group receives a subtle styling upgrade for 2027.

Body-color front and rear bumpers are now standard on the XLT 302A, creating a cleaner and more unified exterior appearance. Ford is also introducing a new dealer-installed 22-inch ebony-painted six-spoke aluminum wheel for buyers looking to give their truck a more customized stance.

More Off-Road Flexibility

Ford is making a few notable changes for buyers interested in off-road performance.

The FX4 Off-Road Package is now available on the STX 200A, bringing equipment such as an electronic-locking rear axle, Hill Descent Control and off-road-tuned components to another F-150 configuration.

The Tremor will also offer an available front axle with a Torsen differential. This provides Tremor buyers with another way to improve traction and capability when driving across loose or uneven terrain.

A New Lariat Chrome Appearance Package

A new Lariat Chrome Appearance Package will be available on Lariat 500A and 501A models. It gives shoppers an alternative to the darker, blacked-out appearance packages that have become increasingly common across the truck market.

Meanwhile, the previous STX Black Appearance Package has been removed. Black appearance options remain available elsewhere in the lineup, including on XLT and Lariat models.

A More Affordable F-150 Tremor

One of the most exciting additions for 2027 is a new entry-level Tremor configuration.

The new Tremor 400A equipment group gives buyers access to the truck’s core off-road capability without requiring as many premium comfort and technology features. It comes exclusively as a SuperCrew 4×4 with a 5.5-foot bed and is powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Despite its more accessible position in the lineup, the Tremor 400A retains the equipment that defines the off-road-focused truck, including:

• A 3.73 electronic-locking rear axle
• Off-road-tuned front and rear shocks
• Increased ride height
• Improved approach and departure angles
• 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires
• Skid plates
• Rock Crawl, Mud/Rut and Deep Snow/Sand drive modes
• Tremor-specific exterior styling
• Unique cloth seating with Active Orange stitching
• Pro Power Onboard 400-watt outlets

Higher Tremor equipment groups add features such as power-adjustable seating, heated seats, upgraded audio, additional towing technology and leather-trimmed seating.

Ford had not announced final 2027 pricing when the initial order guide was published. However, the addition of the 400A equipment group should create a more affordable entry point for drivers who want genuine Tremor capability without all the premium upgrades.

Ford Security Package Options

Every 2027 F-150 includes one year of the Ford Security Package, which can provide connected features such as theft alerts, start inhibition and vehicle-location assistance. Modem activation is required.

Buyers will also have the option to purchase seven years of coverage through a one-time payment. Exact features may change over time as Ford updates its connected services.

Is the 2027 Ford F-150 Worth Waiting For?

The 2027 Ford F-150 does not dramatically reinvent Ford’s full-size pickup, but its targeted updates give shoppers more choices in several important areas.

The new 3.0-liter EcoBoost represents the most significant change, while expanded V8 availability makes the King Ranch and Platinum more appealing to traditional truck enthusiasts. New colors, revised appearance packages and additional off-road options round out an update focused on variety and customization.

Final pricing, engine output and fuel-economy information had not been announced in the initial order guide. Features, packages and availability may also change before production begins.
